We all need leadership to help us develop a compelling vision and to engage others in realizing it. However, leadership goes beyond visioning and execution, it is primarily about decision-making. During this presentation we will explore what it takes to lead by making sound decisions. We will explore decisions related to purpose, strategy, execution, and people. We will also cover the art and science of decision making by illustraing it with an example.

IT projects not only fulfill specific business needs, they advance and sustain the business and IT strategies. By understanding the overall strategic business information and governance requirements,IT professionals will be able to gain a more comprehensive context to the business information requirements of their projects.

In the presentation we will describe the interdependent elements that need to be present in an IT organization's strategy and governance, specifically highlighting capabilities, processes, and controls relevant to each specific IT role. We will use the CobiT framework to support the presentation.

After the presentation, participants will be able to...

• Understand an IT strategic framework and how to connect strategic business requirements to project requirements
• Know how specifically to influence IT strategy to advance each professional practice
• Engage IT leaders in conversations linking their work with IT strategy and governance
• Understand the impact that PM, BA, or SQE practices have on CobiT controls and vice versa
• Help an organization define or improve their strategy and governance if its lacking
